Mendut Temple
Mendut Temple was once linked to Pawon and Borobudur Temple by a stone-paved walk. It was built about the same time as Borobudur, as well as the Pawon Temple. It is believed that there was apparently some ritual link between the three temples.

On the outside walls, superbly carved beautiful reliefs,

which are the largest that have been found in Indonesia. They cover the surfaces of the walls with large single panels with magnificent artistry and details.

But those beautiful reliefs still could not prepare you for the the more stunning impact of the interior, which is even more impressive. There is a 3-metre high statue of Buddha, figured as Sakyamuni - Light of the World - flanked by smaller figures of bodhisattvas, Lokesvara and Vajrapani. Many experts said that this temple is, "one of the greatest manifestations of Buddhist spiritual thought and art...."
