Dance is one of the
highlights of Javanese cultures, especially in Solo. Dancing, is like a way of life in
Central Java. There are so many kinds of dances, with different styles and purposes. Some
dances are performed on special occasions, others are performed regularly, some are
resolutely classical, |

some again are ancient
in inspiration but modern in choreography and style. The most classical dances, are,
undoubtedly, from Solo and Yogyakarta. Classical
dances are practiced regularly in the royal palaces. In Solo, it is held every Wednesday
mornings at 9 a.m, taking place at Mangkunegaran Palace. The same way in Yogyakarta, but
the time is on Sundays at 10 p.m in the Kasultanan Palace. See the dancers practice, with
the beautiful music from the gamelan
orchestra. In another corner, perhaps you would see the old dancing masters patiently
teaching their young generations....... It is one more way to witness the very high
Javanese cultures.
