| Wayang Orang

Wayang orang means "human puppet" or classical dance drama. In Solo, it is held every night (except on Sundays) at Sriwedari Park. Same like wayang kulit, the stories of wayang orang are also taken from Hindu legends, but instead of using puppets, wayang orang uses real actors and actresses. | |
| The duration, however,
is not as long as wayang kulit.
Complete wayang orang show takes about three hours. The players wear traditional costumes, with superb batik clothes, elaborate jewelries, intricate headpieces, and other fine body ornaments. The dialogues are, of course, in Javanese. During the show, they perform high Javanese dancing skills in the movement, and also accompanied by a full traditional gamelan orchestra.
