also divided into Kasultanan and Pakualaman. The Kasunanan Palace which can be seen right
now was built in 1743.
Entering the Kasunanan Palace, you will notice the large square called
"alun-alun", one is located on the north side and the other is on the south.
Shaded by the groves of leafy banyan trees, men sell kerisses, statuettes, and many other
traditional handicrafts.
The main builiding of the palace is decorated with aristocratic architecture and luxurious
ornaments - such as marble floors, gold and diamond ornaments, crystal lamps - inside that
now delights the eye in every corner of the complex.
Also don't miss to see the art gallery exhibiting royal heirlooms, antiques, old
Hindu-Java bronzes, ancient Royal wagon and vehicles, and many other historic
